Journey to Self-Love - Yes, it’s a Celebration!

Self-love is a word that’s thrown around a lot these days. But it’s a pillar in my business model, so I’ll never shut up about it. Sorry - not sorry.

As someone who suffered severe postpartum depression after the birth of my son, I wasn’t sure I’d ever think I was beautiful in my skin. But I have.

For me, stepping in front of the camera was a game-changer.  It helped me discover self-compassion for my body. Yes, my body grew. Yes, my skin stretched.

But isn’t that what life is all about? Growing, stretching, and changing?

What started as a series of self-portraits sparked the idea to help other females fall in love with their bodies, too, with boudoir photos. And it’s been the ride of a freakin’ lifetime!

How Boudoir Photoshoots Skyrocketed Amanda’s Self-Confidence

Amanda, a dear friend and client, shared her “why” for doing boudoir photos and how it helped her self-esteem. She wrote these words to inspire other females who might be in the same boat. If your self-esteem is in the gutter, and you want to learn how to celebrate yourself, this is for you!

She’s been on a weight loss and self-love journey since last year. We’ve done six boudoir photoshoots together so far, and every session has helped her see herself more compassionately and explore her sexuality through new boudoir sets, new lingerie, poses - all of it!

From Amanda:

Growing up, I always dealt with low self-esteem. Maybe you can relate?

In high school and my twenties, I used sex as a temporary fix for my self-esteem - to feel wanted.

In my thirties, I found myself in relationships that ended up one-sided. I was the “friend with benefits” girl.

I think we’ve all been there at some point in our lives - accepting breadcrumbs of love because it’s what we think we deserve.

Eventually, I saw my own patterns. Enough was enough. I knew it was time to start loving my body and treating myself to luxuries.

I began working out and exercising to lose weight. I also decided to do something I’d never done before - a boudoir photoshoot!

By the time I had my first shoot, I had lost 14 pounds. I was still self-conscious and wanted to hide in poses. But with Ashlee and Morgan, it’s impossible not to believe them when they yell, “Look at that booty!” while cheering you on!!
